Medical Insurance Help As we age, our bodies, as well as our relationship to food changes. Lifestyle changes, activity level, metabolism, appetite, health issues, digestion, medications, income level and emotional factors can all create obstacles to eating well. Yet eating well is key to a retaining a robust immune system, managing health, staying energetic, and remaining mentally sharp and emotionally balanced.

SSIC acknowledges the value of good eating for aging populations. Our Nutrition Program is designed with consideration for all the influential factors mentioned above.

Our Program Could Not Run Without Volunteers

Senior Services of Island County’s Nutrition Program depends on 133 volunteers, who drive for Meals on Wheels or assist in the dining rooms and kitchens. Volunteer drivers provide connection to the community for isolated homebound participants, while dining room volunteers help in the busy dining rooms, cleaning and serving.

If you’re looking for something very, very worthwhile to do with your time, please consider volunteering with us. You can download a volunteer job description and application here.
