There are many ways to get involved with Senior Services of Island County….you can step forward as:
Give Time
Most of our programs benefit immensely from the efforts of hundreds of volunteers that help us fill needs and provide a qualitative, expanded outreach.
Come in and talk with us about volunteering, about getting involved and whatever level you have the time and inclination for. And if you’re a midphase senior trying to pretend that you’ll never grow old, then give yourself the gift of dispelling your own myths.
Aging is a process by which everything in life becomes more precious, especially time and relationships. Join others who know this, who are working with the process consciously, creatively and realistically.
Give Money
The generosity of donors supports our efforts today and helps guarantee continuing services into the future. Check out the Donate section of this site for explanations and suggestions about the many ways you can help boost the quality of life for many elders who we all know have contributed much throughout their lives.
Give Energy
"If you think you’re too small to make a difference, you’ve never been in a tent with a mosquito." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Everything we do makes a difference to someone or something. No matter where you fall on the spectrum of aging, advocacy is needed.
It is said that the next generation of retirees will be the healthiest, longest lived, best educated and most affluent in history. That may be true, and for those for whom it is, time, energy and money will not be a problem.
But many retirees have seen their retirement disappear under economic strain; many face illnesses or life circumstances that erode what they’ve managed to save. The truth is that eventually all will need services of one kind or another.
Advocates lobby for seniors, senior health, and services to seniors that are frequently in jeopardy. They enter the conversation early, get involved with organizations that are active on behalf of seniors; they become policy makers and activists.
Give Spirit
If you’re interested in senior health, think: body, mind and spirit.
We're always looking for instructors, leaders and presenters who enjoy spreading joy through music, writing, poetry, hobbies, informational exchanges and the preservation of stories, folk arts and hobbies.

Help Change Attitudes
Walking into a senior center does not make you automatically old and frail any more than getting gray hair makes you suddenly arthritic. In fact, taking advantage of all that a senior center can offer makes more sense than you realize.
You’ll be amazed not only at what’s available for seniors, but what seniors in their 70’s, 80’s and 90’s are doing with their time and energy! Knowledge, experience and humor abound. And everywhere you look you can find inspiration.
You’ve always been a change maker. Come down and help change the face of aging.
"Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul." ~Samuel Ullman
