SSIC Programs

On behalf of Senior and disabled citizens residing in Island County we provide services and resources which improve their well-being, promote personal independence and facilitate their participation in the life and affairs of the community.

Nutrition Program

Serves hot meals at meal sites on Whidbey Island and Camano Islands. Delivers hot and frozen meals to home-bound seniors and provides Dietitian counseling / assistance when needed.

Senior Information & Assistance/Case Management

Helps link people over the age of 60 with the services and information they need to continue to live independently.

Volunteer Chore

A corps of volunteers providing services to help elderly and disabled people remain independent in their own homes by providing transportation, shopping, yard work, and other forms of support.

South Whidbey-Bayview Senior Center and Senior Activities

Includes life enriching experiences through a variety of programs and activities that promote social interaction.  These include special events, educational classes, dances, musical guests, exercise, health screenings, foot care, games, focus groups, and escorted group excursions throughout the year.

Cam Bey Apartments

A Housing & Urban Development subsidized 50 unit apartment complex for senior and disabled adults owned and operated SSIC.

Adult Day Services (Time Together at the South Whidbey-Bayview Senior Center and DayBreak in Oak Harbor)

Provides social interaction and activities for seniors and disabled adults. Serves people challenged by poor health, physical disabilities, and memory loss or confusion.

SHIBA

The Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors program provides counseling to individuals needing health care and insurance information.

Community Thrift

Community Thrift is a full service thrift store at the corner of Woodard and SR 525 in Freeland, WA. Its mission is to raise funds to support the programs of Senior Services and to support the community's efforts to reuse, recycle, and resell because it's good for the environment, good for the community and good for the economy! Great volunteer opportunities!

Senior Currents

Senior Currents is a joint publication of Oak Harbor Senior Services and Senior Services of Island County and is published by the Whidbey News Group.  It is distributed monthly as an insert in the Whidbey News-Times and the South Whidbey Record on the last Wednesday of each month. Delivered to 23,000 homes on Whidbey Island Senior Currents contains articles of interest to seniors and information on programs at the Whidbey Island Senior Centers.

If you do not subscribe to the News-Times or the Record and are not receiving Senior Currents in a newspaper tube at your mailbox (or delivered to your front porch), please call us at 321-1600 or 678-3373 and give us your address or send us a note at SSIC, 14594 SR 525, Langley, WA 98260. We will give your address to the Whidbey News Group distribution department so that you are added to the distribution list.

Job Bank

Offers employers and persons wanting to hire occasional, part-time or full-time workers access to a list of people who have indicated that they are seeking employment and have been screened through the Washington State Patrol Check for Criminal Records.
